Sam Snead was born May 27 1912 in Virginia USA. He died aged 89 in 2002.
Snead's first Major win was The PGA Championship in 1942. His last was the Masters in 1954. He achieved 142 professional wins.
Snead served in the US Navy during World War 2 from 1942 – 1944. He was medically discharged due to a back injury. He then went on to win 6 of his 7 Majors.
Snead never won a US Open Title. He was runner up four times in 1937 1947 1949 1953.
Snead was well known for this playing style with irons, achieving long drives, and his accuracy. Snead pioneered a croquet-style of putting in the 1960’s.
