Gene Sarazen (Eugenio Saraceni February 27, 1902 – May 13, 1999) was from Harrison, New York. His parents were immigrants from Sicily, Italy.

He was self-taught using the interlock grip to hold the club.

He was one of the world's best players in the 1920s and 1930s.

Gene Sarazen is one of 5 players to achieve the Career Grand Slam, winning each of the four majors at least once in his career. So far the only other golfers who have achieved this are Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus, and Tiger Woods.

Gene Sarazen was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame In 1974.
