The Rules of Golf are determined and administered by two bodies, (i) The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews (R&A) who govern all territories except for the USA and Mexico and (ii) the United States Golf Association (USGA).
While Copperhead snakes are not found in that part of Florida, Cottonmouth (for the indigenous Cottonmouth snakes) was considered and rejected. The founders wanted a snake name, so Copperhead it was.

At the end of 1936 the USGA and R&A announced a 14 club limit to take effect in 1938. No one really knows why the number 14 was chosen. The most likely answer is because of the standardization of golf clubs at the time. A set of golf clubs typically comprised of nine irons, a putter and four woods.

The winner of a PGA Tour event usually gets 18% with second place receiving 10.8% of the total purse. It continues from 3rd to 10th place 6.8%, 4.8%, 4%, 3.6%, 3.35%, 3.1%, 2.9% and 2.7%. The percentages then further decline down to the 70th place finisher, who receives 0.2% of the purse.
