East Lake Golf Course is located at 2575 Alston Drive SE, Atlanta, GA 30317.
Established in 1904 the East Lake golf course is the oldest course in the city of Atlanta.
The 18 hole course was originally designed by Tom Bendelow. In 1913 the course was completely reworked by the golf course architect Donald Ross. His layout survives as the basic design today.
In 1994, Rees Jones, son of the famed golf course architect Robert Trent Jones, restored the original golf course design to its current layout today.
The original clubhouse was destroyed by fire in 1925 and subsequently replaced by the current two-story Tudor-style structure, designed by acclaimed Atlanta architect Philip Shutze.
The East Lake Golf Club has been the permanent home of the TOUR Championship since 2005.
The tournament was first played at East Lake in 1998 and has been held at East Lake 21 times since then.
The club has also hosted the Southern Amateur and other significant amateur events.
East Lake is famously associated with Bobby Jones, who learned the game there and played his first and last rounds at the club.
Jones, who won the Grand Slam in 1930, was also president of the club in the mid-1940s.
His father, “Colonel” Robert P. Jones, was a long-time club president and director.
