Augusta didn’t admit its first Black member until 1990.
Robert Lee Elder was born on 14th July 1934 in Dallas, Texas.
In 1975 he became the first African-American to play in the Masters Tournament. Unfortunately he missed the cut.
Lee Elder was invited to the Masters after he won the 1974 Monsanto Open.
