The tournament was scheduled for March 12–15 at TPC Sawgrass.
Hideki Matsuyama held a two stroke lead after the first round. He shot a round of 63 matching the course record of nine under par.
Defending champion Rory McIlroy was at even par (72), tied for 83rd place.
