TPC Sawgrass was opened in 1980.
It has two 18 hole golf courses.
The Stadium Course was designed by Pete and Alice Dye. It is known to be one of the most difficult golf courses in the world. It’s signature hole is the 17th, a 137 yard (125 meter) par 3 with an island green. The course has also been featured in many popular golf video games.
The Course got its name from his stadium concept design where the stands are made of raised mounds of grass.
The Valley Course was designed by Pete Dye, Bobby Weed and player consultant Jerry Pate.
The Players Championship has been hosted at the club since 1982.
