What is The Players Championship?

The Players Championship is an annual PGA golf tournament. It is owned by the PGA tour. The field almost always includes the current top 50 golfers in the world rankings.

The 2023 Players Championship offered the highest prize money in global tournament golf at the same with a total prizemoney pool of US $25 million. Also, the winner earns more world ranking points than for any other tournament win except for the 4 Majors and a five year exemption on the PGA Tour.

While being played over 4 different courses in the first eight years The Players Championship has, since 1982, been played at the TPC Sawgrass golf course which includes the iconic par 3 17th Island Green.
