Jim “Bones” Mackay was the long-time caddy for Phil Mickelson and recently, started doing on course golf reporting for NBC.
“Bones” helped Phil Mickelson win all 5 of his major championships. He got his nickname back in 1990 when Fred Couples couldn’t remember his name, so he called him “bones” because of his lanky physique.
He moved to broadcasting in 2017 but did return to “the bag” for Justin Thomas for a few weeks in 2018 when his caddy Jimmy Johnson had an injury.
