Torrey Pines Golf Course is a 36 hole municipal public golf course complex which opened in 1957.
It's located on the cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
The name Torrey Pines comes from a rare tree that grows in the wild only along this local stretch of the coastline.
Torrey Pines has two 18 hole golf courses. The North Course and The South Course were both designed by William F. Bell.
The North Course was redesigned by Tom Weiskopf in 2016.
The 2008 US Open was played at Torrey Pines. Tiger Woods won against Rocco Mediate sudden death on the 19th hole after a 18 hole playoff.
