Tony Finau was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah
Tony Finau was born on the 14th of September 1989 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
His brother, Gipper, is the youngest player to make a Korn Ferry Tour cut, doing so at age 16 years, 20 days in Utah in 2006 (T58).
He attended West High School.
Tony won the 2006 Utah State Amateur championship and decided, at age 17, to skip college and turn pro. For the next 6-7 years Finau competed on mini-tours and worked on improving his game.
He turned pro in 2007.
Tony and his brother Gipper competed on the reality golf TV-show the Big Break in 2009. He eventually made his way through the Web.com tour and earned his PGA tour card for the 2014-2015 season.
In the last several years, Tony has become a fan favorite and a very solid professional player. It feels like he’s near the lead in most events he enters.
He established the Tony Finau Foundation, inspired by his family’s own journey with the game of golf. The foundation’s mission is to empower and inspire youth and their families to discover, develop, and achieve their fullest potential by providing opportunities in golf, education, wellness, and recreation. Through community initiatives, educational support, and family-centered programs, the foundation aims to break down barriers and help young people realize their gifts and talents, building on core family values and a commitment to giving back
