The Sea Island Company founder opened the first nine-hole course, Plantation, in June 1928.
Sea Island Golf Club has three championship golf courses, the Seaside Course, the Plantation Course and the Retreat Course.
The Seaside Course is a legendary Scottish links style, surrounded by tidal creeks, dunes, salt marshes, and the Atlantic Ocean. It is ranked in the top 100 courses in the United States. Along with the Plantation Course, it is the home of the PGA TOUR’s RSM Classic, a FedEx cup event hosted by Davis Love III.
The Plantation Course is a Mark and Davis Love III re-design of the course they grew up playing.
The Retreat Course is surrounded by towering Georgia longleaf pines, sleepy native oaks, and dramatic greens. It was also redesigned by Mark and Davis Love III in 2001.
