What is the Presidents Cup?

The Presidents Cup is a competition of men's golf matches between a team representing the United States and an International Team representing the Rest of the World excluding Europe.

The Presidents Cup began in 1994, with a competition held at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Prince William County, Virginia, USA.

There are 12 players per team. Each team has a captain who is responsible for choosing the pairs for the fourball and foursome events.

The format is frequently updated.

In 2015 for example there were nine foursome matches, nine fourball matches, and 12 singles matches.

A total of 30 points were played for. The winner needed 15.5 points to win the Cup.
