Campbell was the first New Zealander to win a Major since Bob Charles in 1963.
At the 2005 US Open Michael Campbell won his only Major title (E), two strokes ahead of runner-up Tiger Woods (+2). Third-round leader Retief Goosen collapsed on the final day by dropping six shots in the first nine holes.
The winner’s share was $1,170,000.
In 2005 Michael Campbell became only the fourth player to win the US Open and the World Match Play Championship in the same year.
