Peter William Thomson (23 August 1929 – 20 June 2018), born in Australia and a proud member of Victoria GC in Melbourne won the British Open Championship five times between 1954 and 1965. He also was the only golfer to win a modern major three times in succession – The Open 1954, 1955, 1956.
Only one golfer, Harry Vardon, has won the British Open more than five times.
Peter Thomson was also a well renowned course architect with "Thomson Perrett Golf Course Architects" for 51 years, helping to develop more than 180 courses in over 30 countries.
