Golf returned to the Olympics in 2016 after more than a century, last played in 1904, and featured two events, the men's and women's individual events.

The Games were held from 5 to 21 August 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Justin Rose became the first Olympic Gold Medallist in Golf for 112 years. He beat Henrik Stenson by 2 shots. Matt Kuchar came third 3 shots behind.

The competition was played on a new course designed by Gil Hanse. After the Summer Olympics ended, the golf course was opened to the public.
