Couples collected 15 victories during his PGA career including one major championship; the 1992 Masters.
Fred Couples first won on the PGA tour in 1983. The 1992 Masters is his career highlight, when he defeated Raymond Floyd by 2 strokes. Fred had 11 additional top 5s in majors, but this was his only win.
His nickname was “Boom Boom” because he was considered very long off the tee in his time.
Fred is now in his 60s but continues to be competitive on the Champions Tour and plays in the Masters each year. The last time he made the Masters cut was 2018.
Couples did reach number 1 in the world rankings during his career and in 2013 was inducted into the Golf Hall of Fame.
