David Leadbetter was born on 27 June 1952 in Worthing in Sussex, England.
David started his career on the European and Southern African tours.
Since he always had an interest in the techniques, mechanics and psychology of the game he became a golf coach. He now runs an international chain of golf academies.
He became world famous when he rebuilt Nick Faldo’s swing in the 1980s. Nick Faldo then went on to win six major championships.
David also worked with Nick Price, Charles Howell III, Michelle Wie, Lydia Ko, Byeong Hun An, Greg Norman (1997), and Ernie Els (1990–2008).
In the 2005-2006 edition of Golf Digest's list of the 50 Greatest Teachers in the US, David Leadbetter was ranked second behind Butch Harmon.
