Padraig Harrington was born August 31st 1971 in Dublin, Ireland.
His first Major win was 2007 Open Championship held at Carnoustie, Scotland. In a four-hole playoff with Sergio Garcia, Harrington won by one stroke becoming the first Irishman in win in 60 years.
Harrington defended his Open title a year later at Royal Birkdale despite a wrist injury shortly before the tournament started. He overtook Greg Norman and Ian Poulter in the final round and sealed the win with an eagle on the par 5 17th.
Three weeks later Harrington continued his success winning the USPGA Championship in Bloomfield, Michigan. This win secured Harrington’s status as the number one European Player. In 2009 he failed to win a single tournament. This was his first winless year for a decade.
